Fibromyalgia, Is There Hope?

 June 15, 2010

By  Dr. John Vilkelis

I often hear fibromyalgia patients talk about having “no hope.” Fibromyalgia patients struggle with the terrible symptoms of this often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed disease.  Worse still are the stories of people telling me that their regular doctor said it’s in their head or that fibromyalgia doesn’t exist.

Fibromyalgia is widespread muscle and skeletal pain. Widespread is defined as pain occurring on the right and left sides of the body, above and below the waist, and along the spine. Localized pain also must occur in a majority of identified “tender points” all over the surface of the body.  People with fibromyalgia often have other generalized symptoms that can include temporomandibular joint dysfunction, skeletal pain and whole body aches, tingling & numbness, fatigue, trouble sleeping or sleep disturbances, depression, chronic headaches or migraines, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, racing heartbeats, allergies, interstitial cystitis and decreased coordination.

Many patients will say that they have tried many things or even everything in the search for answers to their problems. However, trying different medications is not looking for different treatments.  It may be safe to say that you have really just been doing more of the same. Wouldn’t you say it’s time for a CHANGE? We would agree.  Maybe you or someone you know suffers with Fibromyalgia Syndrome.

If so, I am here to tell you there is HOPE! Many fibromyalgia patients will tell you that their condition began after some sort of trauma.  Whether physical or emotional the result is the same for this growing portion of the population…  Fibromyalgia.  When the effects of this initial trauma are treated and corrected the symptoms diminish and often disappear for long periods at a time.  No treatment can eradicate the disease completely but you can have a life largely free from the symptoms and suffering of fibromyalgia.

Take action today! Only through taking proper action will you see results! -NO DRUGS, NO SIDE EFFECTS, NO SURGERY!
